Nowy Orlean to miasto na poludniu Stanow Zjednoczonych. Jest to najwieksze miasto stanu Luizjana. Wiekszosc obszarow Nowego Orleanu lezy ponizej poziomu morza. W Nowym Orleanie panuje klimat tropikalny, niektorzy tutejsi mieszkancy smieja sie, ze Nowy Orlean to jedyne miasto w USA, gdzie ubrania na zime, to te same ubrania, z ktorych korzysta sie latem. Podczas mojego pobytu tam mialam okazje sprobowac bardzo niezdrowej, tlustej, ale przepysznej kuchni. Chyba pierwszy raz w zyciu we wszystkich restauracjach i klubach, ktore odwiedzilam tam mialam okazje sprobowac niezwykle mocnych drinkow, w ktorych czulam mocny alkohol az za bardzo, tak bardzo, ze momentami wykrecalo mi buzie. New Orleans has a tropical climate, some of New Orleans inhabitants joke that New Orleans it is only one place in the US, where your use same clothes for summer and winter. I tried a very fat, unhealthy, but delicious New Orleans kitchen during my stay there. I think that was the first time in my life, in every restaurants and bars, which I visited there I tried such a strong drinks, where I was able to taste a strong alcohol even to much, that my face was twisting. A traditional drink, which you have to drink, while being on Bourbon Street (French Quarter) is a hand grenade. I was in land of delight after drinking this drink in this hot, tropical climate :D Bourbon Street is the representative street of New Orleans. Lot of green balconies, bars, pubs, restaurants open until morning there... I tried a traditional French donuts when I was in Cafe Du Monde. Louisiana was a French colony, then it was a Spanish colony, that's why when you look at New Orleans architecture you can notice a French, Spanish style there. Most of New Orleans population is black. Based on people's stories and this what I actually saw, I assume that it is not a very safe place... People die every day on New Orleans streets... Street shooting is something normal in New Orleans and it is much more common in this city, than in any other cities in the US. Racism is very visible there. White people do not hide, that they do not like blacks, and blacks do not hide, that they do not appreciate whites. Different teasing between them happens all the time, even in a store line. Poor districts, have lot of beggars. Cemeteries are interesting in New Orleans, because they have huge, decorated tombs. One of the reason of that is that New Orleans lies below the sea level. Those tombs caught my attention, because it is not a very common view in the US. An American cemetery is usually a green field with a modest headstones. I was in New Orleans doctor office, first time in the US, after a drastic climate change, when I arrived from cold Poland, where I was wearing a coat, and New Orleans where after getting out of the plane took my breath away for a moment. I got a pharyngitis. I felt like I was diagnosed for some kind of a serious disease in hospital, where I went. It was very professional, fast, and the amount of people, who were serving me in one moment, it was something amazing, comparing to the reality, which I know from Poland. If you suffer of any kind of disease, I recommend to do that in the US :D The fact is, that medical treatment in the US is very expensive, that's why you can not come here without insurance. I was told while buying an insurance in Poland, that sometimes people come to the US, they do not buy an insurance and then they have to take loans to pay off medical bills in the US. I also experienced in New Orleans my first 4th of July, which is an Independent Day. Everybody is so happy on this day. People hang out together, they have barbecue and different fun parties. We of course also had fun on this day:) We were drinking delicious drinks in the sun on the beach and listening to country music. Every 4th of July, at 9 pm, in every city of the US there is a fireworks show. I was watching a fireworks show at Mississippi river. I met an older man, who was born and raised in New Orleans and he told me that this city is partying 24 hours, 7 days a week. It does not matter if you are working or you are staying at the house, there is always time for fun. Mardi Gras in New Orleans is pompously celebrated... Requisites of carnival are beads, which people hang on their necks. If you want to get beads, you have to show your breasts or penis :D You have to be drunk in New Orleans. People drink lot of alcohol there. That is a reason why New Orleans is a capital of alcoholics in the US. New Orleans has a big gay population. I met one of them... He showed me all parts of Godzilla collection on VHS tapes :D First time in my life I saw at his house a huge amount of Chihuahua toys, which is a hallmarks of a gay :D He told me lot of things of hurricane Katrina, which he survived. He gave me a book about lost in Katrina... He also showed me a first escort agency in New Orleans... It was cool to be in New Orleans, but I would not like to live there, because its to hot, to dangerous, to much alcohol... it depends who likes what I guess:) We got to the car and after one week in New Orleans we were heading out to North Carolina... We were driving 16 hours, through Mississippi, Alabama,Georgia, South Carolina and finally we achieved our goal, which was a Havelock in North Carolina.
