W tym roku spedzilismy alternatywnego sylwestra w Providence Canyon State Park w stanie Georgia. Pomysl troche szalony, bedzie co wspominac, ale chyba nie do konca trafiony jesli chodzi o kemping o tej porze roku w takich warunkach atmosferycznych... Pomysl z kempingiem 31 grudnia w srodku kanionu wyszedl oczywiscie ode mnie :D Jakos nie mialam ochoty tym roku wybyc na jakas impreze sylwestrowa, a mojemu mezowi to wszystko jedno, gdzie by sie nie udal to zawsze jest szczesliwy :D Pogoda w grudniu nas do tej pory bardzo rozpieszczala... Mielismy tutaj temperatury do +25 stopni Celsjusza.... Boze Narodzenie bylo egzotycznie cieple, co wspominalam juz wczesniej... Kiedy wpadlam na pomysl wyjazdu do kanionu, ktory polozony jest w Lumpkin, Georgia, tylko 1,5 godziny drogi od nas przyzwyczajona do faktu, ze w Georgii panuje wieczne lato jakos troche naiwnie nie myslalam, ze pogoda moze tak sie zepsuc... Przez zepsucie mam na mysli znaczny spadek temperatury oraz deszcz... Bylam bardzo podekscytowana tym pomyslem, poniewaz uwielbiam takie cuda natury... Zalamalam sie kiedy sprawdzilam prognoze pogody i okazalo sie, ze bedzie lalo caly czwartek, 31 grudnia... Nie ma mocnych na mnie... Deszcz mi wcale nie straszny, miala byc wycieczka to bedzie! Przez to, ze zapadalismy sie miejscami w glinie, nie zwiedzilismy kazdego zakatka kanionu. Moj maz ze wzgledow zdrowotnych nie moze duzo chodzic, wiec w ogole za duzo sobie tam nie pochodzilismy, na tyle, na ile ja bym chciala. Wychodze jednak z zalozenia, ze lepsze to niz nic, bylam, widzialam, a nawet spedzilam tam noc pod namiotem:) Planujemy odwiedzic to miejsce jeszcze raz, ale moze na wiosne, albo w lato jak bedzie cieplo. Najladniejsze widoki kanionu mozna ujrzec z centrum turtystycznego, gdzie jest kilka tarasow widokowych, z ktorych widac glab kanionu. My tylko na chwilke zatrzymalismy sie przy centrum turystycznym i mielismy okazje zobaczyc kanion tylko z jednego tarasu, potem chodzilismy "po plynacej rzece" glownie w glebi kanionu. Sylwestrowa noc spedzilismy na swiezym powietrzu, przy ognisku w glebi lasu u podnoza kanionu. Byla pieczona kielbasa, szampan, a nawet fajerwerki:) Strzelalismy w puszki z mojej BB gun :D Kompletnie stracilismy tam poczucie czasu. Smiac mi sie chcialo z Majka, ktory przystawil metalowy kosz na smieci z jednej strony namiotu, w razie gdyby jakis zwierzak w nocy przyszedl, to uderzy w kosz, a nie w nasze glowy :D Nasz piesek mial mnostwo frajdy w tym blocie :D Wytarzala sie tam za wszystkie czasy. W przyszlym roku o ile nie wybierzemy sie na zaden bal to przynajmniej postaram sie wybrac jakies pewniejsze, jezeli chodzi o pogode miejsce nawet na "alternatywnego" sylwestra. Nie ma tego zlego co by na dobre nie wyszlo. Kolejne miejsce w Stanach zaliczone! I to w dodatku takie, o ktorym pewnie malo ktory zagraniczny turysta ma pojecie :D

Welcome in the New Year!
This year we spent an alternative New Year's Eve in Providence Canyon in Georgia which was a little bit of a crazy idea. We will for sure do something to mention in the future, but I am not sure if it was that good idea, especially camping in this time of the year, in these atmospheric conditions.... Camping, on December 31th, in the middle of the canyon it was of course my idea :D I did not feel like I wanted to go for special New Year's party and my husband does not care. He is happy everywhere :D The weather in December was spoiling us a lot... We were having temperatures up to +25 Celsius degrees... Christmas was exotically warm, as I mentioned before... I naively did not think that the weather can horribly break when I got the idea about trip to Providence Canyon, especially that its located only 1.5hrs from us and I am use to forever summer in Georgia. A breaking weather means substantial decrease of temperature and rain... I was excited of this idea because I love this kind of natural wonder... I was heartbroken when I checked the forecast and I found out that whole Thursday, December 31th will be raining... I thought no way! I do not care about rain. I planned a trip so I will make it anyways! My husband said that I am crazy. No matter what he said he still bravely woke up and went with me for the trip to canyon in extreme conditions, especially that we booked camping one week earlier. Providence Canyon is located in Lumpkin, in Stewart county GA. This canyon is considered as a one of the seven natural wonders of Georgia. It is called sometimes as a "Little Grand Canyon" of Georgia. This canyon is not exactly a natural feature. A formation of the canyon was caused by erosion due to poor farming practices in XIX century. The deepest point of canyon has 150 feet, which is about 50m. Providence canyon is a home for a very rare flower, the plumleaf azalea. Canyon is lies on marine sediments, loamy or clayey with small areas of sand. First colinists to Stewart county was in 1825. The evidence of canyon existed in 1836, is a mention of this in James S Lunsford deed. This canyon is extends 7 miles, which is about 12 km of hiking trails. This trail has six campsites, where you have to hike up to. The closest campsite is located after at least 3 miles hiking. The cost of this campsite is $10 per person, per one night. Of course you can not drive there. If you decide for this option you need to realize that it is accommodation in the middle of the woods, with no water, no electricity, no bathroom, no car close by. We picked another option for campsite, which is a campsite on the bottom of the canyon, where we even had a privy :D picnic shelter, place for the fire and a big place, which can accommodate even a few tents. The cost of that is $40 for all people. The plus of the campsite, which we picked was the fact that we could drive up to this place. Around canyon there is no signal, so any phone will not catch it. A canyon has also a 3 miles hike trail, which comes full circle. It was raining technically all the time during our staying at Providence Canyon... sometimes less, sometimes more and stronger... There was a moment that we forgot that it is raining all the time and we were just walking through the canyon. My husband said that it is kind of adventure and probably not many people visit canyon in this condition, so at lest we will know how is there when its raining like there was no end :D It was that wet there that in some areas we were sinking in clay at the bottom of the canyon. We did not see every little part of the canyon because of this fact that there was so wet. We did not walk there much as I wanted to, because my husband can not walk a lot for health reasons. However, I think that its better then nothing. I was there, I saw it and even I spent there a night under the tent:) We plan to visit this place one more time, probably in spring or summer time when the weather will be warmer. The most beautiful views of the canyon you can see from visitor center where is a few observation decks, from where you can see deep of the canyon. We stopped just for a moment at visitor center and we looked at the canyon just from one observation deck, later we were walking on "flowing river" through the deep of the canyon. New Year's Eve night we spent on fresh air, at the fire, in the middle of the wood, on the bottom of the canyon. We had roast sausage, champagne and even fireworks:) We were shooting from my BB gun into the cans. We completely lost there a track of time. It was so funny when Mike put a trash can on the one side of the tent so if any animal would come in the night, it will hit trash can instead of our heads :D Our dog had so much fun in this swamp :D She rolled there for all times. Next year if we will not go for any party, at least I will try to pick a better place, especially regarding to weather for an "alternative" New Year's Eve. Every cloud has a silver lining. It was the next place in the US, which I saw! I am sure that potential foreign tourist has no idea about this place :D

Noworoczny weekend. Wszedzie dobrze, ale w domu najlepiej:)/New Year's weekend. Home is the best place to be.
