Dzisiaj postanowilam przyblizyc wazny temat proby tuberkulinowej, ktorej to mnie dzisiaj poddano. Wartosc podaje sie w milmetrach...No wlasnie i teraz kwestia wyniku... Lekarz powiedzial mi "Don't freak out" :D i teraz UWAGA! :)
Today I would like to give you some important information about SKIN TEST. Today I got one test. I would like also to share with you my experience about this, because today I was looking for some information about this and I saw lot of false and illogical information, which were shared by Polish people, who live in America. Skin test or tuberculosis test is used to determine if someone has developed an immune response to the bacterium that causes tuberculosis. Tuberculosis test is required in military, work or for USCIS. The test consists of inject of tuberculin units in to the top layers of skin of the forearm. You will get a positive result if you have tuberculosis, if you had tuberculosis or if you got vaccine for tuberculosis. The result of tuberculosis test will be read by observation if the spot where test was done is swelling. Test reading is possible from 48 to 72 hours. If the spot on the skin is enough swollen it means that test is positive. The value is given in millimeters. Now I would like to write you something about the result... The nurse who had done for me the skin test told me that if I have a positive result I will have to do chest X-ray to confirm if there is a tuberculosis or not. When he said this, it did sound for me a little bit dangerous... First of all, I have never had a skin test done so I did not know anything about this... The word tuberculosis sounds dangerous, no matter if it is treatable today... After I left the doctor's office, I went online to check out some information about TB. It was a reliable source, the medical information was that even if someone got TB vaccine, the result of TB test might be positive... Then I saw Polish women post where she confirms that she got a positive TB test, because she got a TB vaccine. She brought to the doctor translated vaccinating records and the doctor said: "You are fine, your test was positive because you got a vaccine, you don't have to do X-ray". Also, I saw information online where somebody was giving advise to the public: "Don't let anybody to do skin test if you had TB vaccination!" After I have read this information I thought: "OMG, I got TB vaccine two times, the doctor saw my translated vaccinating records, so why did he not tell me that there is a chance for TB?" I decided to call the doctor and tell him what I found out and also ask him what is going on... Doctor said: "Don't freak out" :D Attention everybody please! According to procedures nobody is interested that someone got TB vaccine if it was not in US!!! Their duty is to do the TB test. If TB test will be positive they will send you for X-ray, because you can have TB, you could have it before or you got TB vaccine. Doctor told me that sometimes people get TB vaccine, then they do TB test and there is no reaction. Sometimes there is a negative result and it does not mean that there is not TB bacteria. I am curious of my result:) I can't wait for this! I am not really sure how this medical world works... Maybe some doctors just do what they're suppose to do, maybe some of them are guided by their own conscience...:) I hope my post might be useful for somebody! :)

Wynik!!!
W miniony czwartek stawilam sie u lekarza, zeby dokonac odczytu proby tuberkulinowej.

Last Thursday I went to visit the doctor to have read my skin test. Despite the fact that I was vaccinated twice in the place on my skin where I got a skin test there was just a little red spot. It was not swollen. I did not have to do an X-ray:)
