New Ulm to bardzo niemieckie miasteczko, co mozna latwo zauwazyc po niemieckiej architekturze tego miejsca, wielu niemieckich nazwach ulic i roznych miejsc tam oraz ludziom, ktorzy scisle utozsamiaja sie z korzeniami niemieckimi i niektorzy stale mowia po niemiecku! Do New Ulm na OKTOBERFEST sciagaja ludzie, szczegolnie Ci o korzeniach niemieckich z roznych miejsc w Stanach. My mielismy okazje poznac rodzine z Polnocnej Dakoty, ktora siedziala z nami przy stole i przyjechala w dniu, w ktorym rozpoczal sie event, po to by skorzystac ze wszystkich przygotowanych atrakcji tam, a bylo ich wiele. Oktoberfest w New Ulm w tym roku odbywa sie przez dwa pazdziernikowe weekendy 7-9 pazdziernika oraz 14-16 pazdziernika. My dosc spontanicznie podjelismy decyzje o wypadzie do New Ulm i stwierdzilismy, ze w sumie niezbyt dobrze sie do niego przygotowalismy, bo nie bylismy w stanie zalapac sie na wszystkie atrakcje, ktore rozlokowane byly w roznych czesciach miasta, ale mamy zamiar poprawic sie w przyszlym roku:) Mimo, ze nie zwiedzilismy wszystkich miejsc w New Ulm, gdzie odbywal sie Oktoberfest to naprawde dobrze bawilismy sie w Green Mill przy hotelu Best Western, zbudowanym totalnie w niemieckim stylu, gdzie zajadalismy sie niemieckimi kielbasami z kapusta, wypilismy duze ilosci piwa oraz wytanczylismy sie za wszystkie czasy przy niemieckiej muzyce ludowej. Byl tam caly przekroj wiekowy ludzi bawiacych sie od dzieciakow po osoby starsze. Ja nie mialam wczesniej pojecia o zadnych niemieckich tradycjach, a ten Oktoberfest pokazal mi np. co mowia/spiewaja Niemcy kiedy wznosza toast. Bawiacym sie przygrywaly wspaniale zespoly, chory mezczyzn spiewaly po niemiecku w ich tradycyjnych ludowych strojach, ludzi zabawialy przerozne stwory w maskach o ktorych tez wczesniej nie mialam pojecia. Mimo ze ten Oktoberfest nie byl tym, ktory odbywa sie w Niemczech, to mysle, ze byla to swietna namiastka tego! Ludzie bawili sie wysmienicie i to jest najwazniejsze! :) Nasze niemieckie stroje ludowe zamowilam na eBayu, a w New Ulm zatrzymalismy sie na noc w motelu Colnial Inn, gdzie akceptowane sa zwierzeta, bo oczywiscie zabralismy ze soba naszego psa:) W niedziele w New Ulm przed powrotem do domu porobilismy jeszcze troche zdjec pieknych kolorow jesieni, ktore zobaczyc mozecie ponizej:) Po pwrocie do domu, tego samego dnia wybralismy sie na rowery, poniewaz pogoda temu bardzo sprzyjala i "pocykalismy" jeszcze wiecej fotek:) Pamietam jak dwa lata temu w pazdzierniku bylismy w Detroit, w Michigan i strasznie zachwycalam sie wtedy przeroznymi kolorami drzew, ktore wygladaly przepieknie, a teraz my mieszkamy na polnocy USA i mamy to na codzien! :) Jesien w Minnesocie, w tym rejonie, gdzie my mieszkamy jest naprawde piekna w chwili obecnej... Temperatura stale spada, czuc, ze zanosi sie na zime, ale mam wrazenie, ze jest to bardzo stopniowe, nie jest szaro, buro i ponuro, nie pada codziennie deszcz, tylko wszystko w umiarze, ze da sie cieszyc ta jesienia:)

Hello everyone in October!
Last Saturday we went to New Ulm in Minnesota, located about 1.5 of driving from Marshall, where we live to take part in OKTOBERFEST which is a German Harvest festival. NewUlm is a very German town what you can easily notice because of the German architecture of this place, lot of German names of streets and other places and people, who strongly identify with their German roots, and some of them still speak German! People from different places of the US especially those who have German roots come for Oktoberfest to New Ulm. We had an opportunity to meet a family from North Dakota who sat with us at the table. They came to New Ulm on they when whole event started to take advantage of all prepared attractions there. Oktoberfest this year takes place on two October weekends, 7-9 of October and 14-16 of October. We spontaneously made decision about going to New Ulm and we thought that we were not prepared that well, because we were not able to see all of attractions which were located in different places in town, but we are going to prepare ourselves better next year:) We had so much fun in Green Mill next to Best Western hotel, built totally in German style even though we did not visit all of places in New Ulm where Oktoberfest was taking place. We were eating German sausages and cabbage, drinking lot of beer and dancing to German folk music in Green Mill. There were people in different ages having fun, kids and older seniors. I had no idea earlier about any German tradition, but this Oktoberfest showed me for example what Germans say/sing when they toast. All of people were having fun with wonderful bands, men choir were singing in German their folk songs and they were dressed in German folk outfits, different creatures in masks which I also had no idea about before were entertaining people. Even though this Oktoberfest was not in Germany it was a great substitute! People were having so much fun and this is the most important thing! :) Our German folk outfits I ordered on eBay. We stayed in Colonial Inn motel in New Ulm which accepts pets, because we of course had our dog with us:) We took some pictures of beautiful fall colors which you can see below on Sunday in New Ulm before we came back home:) We went biking on same day after coming back home, because the weather was in favor and we took even some more pictures:) I remember when two years ago in October we were in Detroit, Michigan and I was so impressed of different colors beautiful trees there, and now we live in Northern US and we have that every day! :) A fall in Minnesota in the area where we live is really beautiful now... Temperature still drops, you can feel that winter is coming, but I feel that it is very gradually. It is not gray, dun and gloomily outside. It is not raining every day. There is a healthy balance that you can actually enjoy the fall:)
