Angielscy osadnicy i podroznicy dziwili sie na widok tego miejsca, krystalicznie czystej wody oraz roznorodnych i dzikich zwierzat zyjacych w wodzie oraz wokol parku. Na poczatku XX wieku niespodziewanie odkryto, ze woda zawiera rad. Rad jest 1000 razy bardziej radioaktywny niz uran i nadaje wodzie niezwykle blekitny kolor. Z powodu obecnosci radu w wodzie zmieniono nazwe zrodel z Blue Springs na Radium Springs. Na przelomie XIX i XX wieku wierzono, ze woda ta ma wlasciwosci lecznicze. W 1925 roku znany deweloper Baron G. Collier wykupil Radium Springs i przeprowadzil tam szereg zmian. Odkrycia radium w Blue Springs dokonal analityk pracujacy dla Colliera. Collier zbudowal na terenie Radium Springs miedzy innymi: kasyno, laznie, hotel o nazwie Skywater, jedno z najlepszych pol golfowych na Poludniu USA oraz wiele szlakow do spacerowania i chatek. Resort zostal otwarty w 1927 roku i sciagnal do siebie ludzi z calego kraju. Wielki kryzys gospodarczy spowodowal zamkniecie Radium Springs w 1939 roku. Na przestrzeni lat kompleks byl wielokrotnie zamykany i otwierany ponownie. W 1994 roku podczas burzy tropikalnej o nazwie Alberto kasyno oraz inne obiekty historyczne na terenie Radium Springs doznaly ciezkich zniszczen. W 1998 roku kolejna powodz przyniosla jeszcze wiecej strat.

Last Saturday we went to Radium Springs in Albany, GA, which is about an hour of driving north from Bainbridge, where we live. Radium Springs is one of Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia. Radium Springs flows with 70,000 American gallons, which is 264 950 liters of fresh crystal clear water. Radium Springs is located on eastern shore of Flint river and surrounded by a beautiful park. Swimming is not allowed in springs since 1998. Radium Springs, formerly, was on of the most popular resort in Georgia. Radium Springs, earlier called Blue Springs was very well known to prehistoric people, and Indians, who were fishing and hunting in the clear water. English settlers and explorers were impressed of this place, crystal clear water, and different wild animals living in water and around the park. At the beginning of XX century unexpectedly discovered, that water contains radium. Radium is 1,000 more times radioactive than uranium, and it gives water a beautiful blue color. Blue Springs changed the name for Radium Springs, because of the presence of radium in the water. People believed at the turn of XIX and XX centuries that this water has healing properties. Baron G. Collier, a famous developer, in 1925 bought Radium Springs and made there a lot of changes. Radium in Blue Springs was discovered by analyst, who worked for Collier. Collier built in Radium Springs: casino, bathhouses, Skywater hotel, one of the finest golf course in the South of the US, walking trials, and cottages. Resort was opened in 1927 and was visited by people from around the country. The Great depression caused closing of Radium Springs in 1939. Over the years complex was a few times closed and reopened. A tropical storm called Alberto in 1994 caused heavy damages of casino and other historic objects at Radium Springs. Flooding in 1998 brought even more loss.

Kiedy bylismy w Radium Springs na zywo rzeczywiscie, dokladnie w tym samym miejscu, ktore przedstawia zdjecie ponizej woda byla tak samo pieknie blekitna.
The color of water on pictures is determined by the light of the day and also of light of the time of the day. The water on my pictures unfortunately is not that blue as on this picture from Google, which I borrowed as an example. The water was really that blue in same place, which is showing picture below on day when we were at Radium Springs.
